The artistic journey of Liliet Orozco and Orozco Contemporáneo has developed through participation in national and international festivals, collaborations with artists from different disciplines, and a sustained pedagogical practice. Together, these three areas connect music-based stage creation, professional exchange, and education.

April 26, 2025
jazzahead! — Bremen, Germany
Liliet Orozco participated in jazzahead!, one of the leading international professional gatherings for jazz, alongside Cuban pianist Rolando Luna.
The performance represented a significant moment in the history of the event: it marked the first occasion on which a dancer and a dance-based proposal were incorporated into a jazzahead! presentation, expanding its musical format through a direct dialogue between piano, body, and stage creation.
The performance established an immediate relationship between Rolando Luna’s musical interpretation and Liliet Orozco’s movement, bringing an approach rooted in Cuban culture and music-based stage creation to an international professional platform.

41st International Jazz Plaza Festival — Havana, Cuba
Orozco Contemporáneo participated in the 41st edition of the International Jazz Plaza Festival alongside pianist, composer, and conductor Arturo O’Farrill.
The company presented Cuerpo–Intervención–Algoritmo, a work constructed through the relationship between musical composition, choreographic structure, and embodied research. The piece explores how bodies respond, adapt, or resist the systems that organize and condition contemporary behaviour.
Arturo O’Farrill is a pianist, composer, director of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, and one of the leading international figures in Afro-Latin jazz. His career has been recognized with multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards.

De Lecuona a Ravel — 41st International Jazz Plaza Festival
Liliet Orozco participated in De Lecuona a Ravel, a concert featuring pianist Rolando Luna and violinist, singer, and composer Yilian Cañizares at the National Theatre of Cuba.
The project traced a journey from the pianistic tradition of Ernesto Lecuona to the musical textures of Maurice Ravel, bringing together composition, improvisation, and stage presence. Liliet’s participation introduced the body and movement into this dialogue between two distinct compositional worlds.
The title and programming of the concert are confirmed by the National Theatre of Cuba and cultural coverage of the Jazz Plaza Festival.

Women by Eyeife — Fábrica de Arte Cubano, Havana
Orozco Contemporáneo participated in Women by Eyeife, a platform dedicated to increasing the visibility of women’s artistic creation, encouraging professional exchange, and strengthening the presence of women within the cultural and creative industries.
The company presented Consuelo, choreographed and directed by Liliet Orozco, with music composed by María Emiliano. The work featured a special appearance by renowned Cuban actress Natacha Díaz, recipient of Cuba’s 2023 National Television Award, together with a student from Cuba’s arts education system.
The collaboration between an actress with an extensive career, a young student, and the performers of Orozco Contemporáneo brought different generations and forms of stage experience into a single creation.

Edgardo Martín Guitar Festival — Tomás Terry Theatre, Cienfuegos
Liliet Orozco participated in the annual guitar festival held in Cienfuegos through a music-based stage creation conceived as a tribute to Paco de Lucía.
The performance brought Liliet Orozco together with Cuban guitarist and composer Reinier Mariño and featured Swiss flautist Antipe da Stella as a guest artist. The encounter combined guitar, flute, movement, and stage interpretation through a dialogue between flamenco, concert music, and Cuban artistic sensibility.
Reinier Mariño is one of Cuba’s leading flamenco guitarists. Antipe da Stella has maintained a sustained artistic relationship with Cuba and has collaborated with Cuban performers, composers, and orchestras.

Errobiko Festibala — Itxassou, France
Liliet Orozco participated in Errobiko Festibala alongside pianist Rolando Luna and percussionist Yaroldy Abreu.
The performance brought together Afro-Cuban jazz, percussion, improvisation, and Afro-contemporary dance. The body became an additional stage voice within the music, creating an immediate relationship between rhythm, gesture, listening, and composition.
The appearance formed part of Errobiko Festibala’s commemorative programme and expanded the international reach of Liliet Orozco’s research into music-based stage creation.
