Liliet Orozco

Liliet de la Caridad Orozco Cabrera, professionally known as Liliet Orozco, was born on April 20, 1998, in Bolondrón, Matanzas, Cuba. She graduated with highest honors and a Gold Diploma from Cuba’s National School of Art, where she trained in ballet, modern and contemporary dance, Cuban folklore, composition, and performance.

She developed a significant part of her professional career with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, where she became a Principal Dancer and later a Maître. Her responsibilities within the company included performance, repertoire transmission, rehearsal direction, artistic coaching, technical development, and dancer training. She participated in creative processes with renowned Cuban and international choreographers and performed at prestigious venues including the Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Theater Winterthur, and the National Auditorium of Mexico, as well as major theatres and festivals throughout Cuba and Europe.

In 2022, she became General Director of Estudio-Galería Línea y Paseo in Havana, expanding her practice into production, curatorial work, and the development of interdisciplinary projects. In October 2023, she founded Orozco Contemporáneo, where she serves as General and Artistic Director, leading processes of creation, production, performance research, and professional collaboration.

Her recent career includes appearances at jazzahead! 2025 in Bremen, the 41st International Jazz Plaza Festival, WOMEN Festival at Fábrica de Arte Cubano, the guitar festival held at Teatro Tomás Terry in Cienfuegos, and the 30th anniversary of Errobiko Festibala. She has collaborated with artists including Arturo O’Farrill, Rolando Luna, Yilian Cañizares, Rachel Therrien, Yaroldy Abreu, Elaín Morales, and Alejandro Valdés, establishing a sustained dialogue between dance, live music, and performance.

Alongside her creative work, Orozco maintains an active teaching practice through classes, workshops, choreographic laboratories, and artistic exchanges in Cuba and internationally. Her pedagogical work encompasses performer development, movement research, musicality, improvisation, and composition. She has taught through the University Extension programme at the University of Havana and is a member of the Asociación Hermanos Saíz.

Her practice brings together performance, choreography, artistic direction, education, production, and cultural management through an approach rooted in Cuban culture and oriented towards contemporary creation and international collaboration.
